For Sale 1954 Lyman Islander Hull Number A-2881 (436 built in 1954) $15,000
Came off the line on 020554 and was shipped to Outdoor Sporting in Columbus, OH she has the original Chris Craft Hercules model A 4 Cyl. 60 hp engine Serial No. 31089 that has less than 600 hours of run time. Purchased from the 2nd owner in October, 2003 and have spent time on/off until 2011 doing a complete restoration. The only wood replaced on the boat was a new stem, new transom and a couple side planks at the transom which was all done at the Lyman factory in 1983. I have all the Original Lyman Boat works company receipts documenting this work.
The engine was gone over by Ramsey Brothers Restorations in Toledo, OH and was found to be in very good condition with excellent compression the carburetor and fuel pump were rebuilt and the engine was tuned up and fine tuned in the water when launched. I did not convert the engine to 12 volt as I wanted to leave the boat as original as possible so it remains 6 volt I did add an electronic ignition and new coil in 2012. The engine starts easily and runs great with no problems whatsoever. I replaced the shaft log hose also in 2012 it does have a 6 volt bilge pump installed. All the chrome hardware was re-chromed including the side steering wheels the steering cable was replaced with Samsel Rope Company Cleveland, OH, Mahogany colored rope/cable steering cable. I had new (Sunbrella) canvas convertible top and side curtains (window) and mooring cover made to match the originals. I purchased a brand new custom made to fit trailer from Loadmaster Trailer in Port Clinton, OH in 2005 it is a single axle with electronic brakes and spare wheel/tire. The trailer has never been in the water as I use a lift to launch and has probably less than 1000 miles on it. I also purchased and installed a new aluminum fuel tank from Rayco in Florida it is an 18 gallon tank just like the original I also added a fuel/water filter in 2012.
I also have another 1954 Chris Craft Hercules Model A engine serial no. 31621 that has been converted to 12 volt it is in very good condition is not stuck it just needs a new set of plug wires and a boat to go in and would be good to go. Boat has always been stored in doors I believe it is one of the nicest Islanders to be found anywhere it is turn key and ready for the water and for show. Located in Southeast Michigan and can be seen anytime and delivery would be possible. (734) 732-5657

The photos give an accurate picture. This boat was originally supplied by Lyman’s Boston dealer who fitted their own solid mahogany windshields to the factory pattern so transportation costs could be kept down. The boat still has this windshield. All lights work. Bow light could do with re-chroming.
